Zeta Eta Chatper-Texas State Univeristy

In the fall of 1985, nine Southwest women: Laura Bounds, Kim Bruskie, Catherine Helm, Lisa Kobza, Jeanne Marchal, Yvonne McGinnis, Susan McIntyre, Monique Reyna, and Rebecca Well had a dream. They discussed the need for expansion for sororities on campus.

A sorority not only for social purposes, but it was also bases on unique and diverse women. Because of this need, these women formed and founded Delta Kappa Pi. Their dream started becoming a reality. While searching for a strong national women's fraternity to affiliate with, Delta Kappa Pi worked hard to become one of the strongest sororities on campus. Delta Kappa Pi had colony members plus four pledge classes whiched helped her grow, expand, and make a name for herself at SWT.

In the fall of 1987, Delta Gamma expressed an interest in colonizing DKPi. Delta Gamma's interest in diversity and the goals and ideas behind Delta Gamma's seemed so similar to Delta Kappa Pi, and it was inevitable that they came together. So, on December 1, 1988, the Southwest Texas State University colony of Delta Gamma was established. With the help of many advisors, seventy-two women started on a three month long road to installation.

Finally on April 30, 1988, the chapter charter was presented. After two-an-a-half years, the dream came true.

Having an officer position in a sorority is such an honor. It has really helped me grow into the woman I am today. It has really pushed me outside of my comfort zone, and not be afraid to stand up in front of over 200 women and lead them through the stressful and crazy process of recruitment. Words cannot describe how thankful I am to have had this amazing experience and I would do it all over again in a heart beat! -Chelsea

Bridgette DeLong

Being Vice President of Foundation for Delta Gamma has really made me grow as a leader. Before my position I was nervous to talk in front of large groups of people, couldn't write a professional email to save my life, and wasn't as confident in myself in being a leader. Now I have over come all my fears and feel I have been transformed into a responsible leader. Taking a position in my sorority was one of the best things I have done for myself and have enjoyed every minute of it.

VP Communication

Bryanna Armstrong
zhvpcommunication@gmail.com

Being the Vice President of communications this semester has taught me SO much, but the most important I would say would be how to manage my time. I wouldn't say that I was qualified for this position beforehand whatsoever, but that was where the perseverance, learning and question asking came in to play. I don't believe you need to be qualified prior to because these positions are about growing, and how much you learn in such a short period of time is insane. It's been so much fun sitting in CMT meetings and seeing how everything works behind the scenes and I believe it's something everyone should experience while being in a sorority. -Bryanna
